It is used therapeutically in many ways, the bruised leaves are applied to the forehead to relieve nervous headache. In the East it is used to treat rheumatic pain, neuralgia, toothache, laryngitis, colds and bronchitis. In Chinese medicine, it is also employed for relieving earache, and some skin conditions. The oil of peppermint is a powerful analgesic and is probably best known for its ability to soothe tension headaches and reduce muscle and joint pain. The active compounds, menthol and menthone, are the primary source of its healing abilities. Applied to inflamed skin, it numbs pain while reducing redness and swelling. Peppermint oil also acts as an antioxidant, reducing the amount of free radicals in the body and contributing to overall better health. An invigorating oil, it also fights off fatigue and helps improve memory.

For external use only. This product is pure and potent, can burn the skin if applied directly. Always dilute in carrier oil for skin use. For aromatherapy, use 3-5 drops to your diffuser or a bowl of steaming water and inhale deeply. For physical therapy, dilute 2-3 drops to 30mL of carrier oil and massage onto the affected area.
